NovaStar MX_2xHDMI2.1 (8K@30Hz) Input Card

The MX_2xHDMI2.1 (8K@30Hz) Input Card adds two HDMI 2.1 inputs to NovaStar MX-Series COEX controllers (MX2000 Pro and MX6000 Pro), each supporting up to 8K (8192Γ—4320@30Hz, forced) with HDR10, HLG, and HDCP 2.3. HDMI 2.1 makes it easy to take 8K output directly from modern consoles, media servers, and GPUs over the most common professional connector. Two inputs on one card streamline multi-source ultrahigh-resolution LED setups.

Ideal Applications

Perfect for a wide range of professional LED display scenarios

Multi-source 8K walls fed by HDMI 2.1 media servers and playback systems

Experiential installations using 8K-capable GPUs or consoles over HDMI

Dual-feed corporate and broadcast stages standardized on HDMI 2.1 sources

Large rental/staging canvases needing two high-bandwidth HDMI inputs per slot

Why HDMI 2.1 at 8K for an LED wall?

HDMI is the most widely deployed connector in professional AV, and HDMI 2.1 raises its bandwidth ceiling so a single cable can carry an 8K image. For an LED wall that means an 8K media server, GPU, or console plugs straight into the MX processor without adapters or signal-splitting, reducing the failure points of stitching multiple HDMI 2.0 feeds.

On large fine-pitch walls the pixel budget is enormous, and 8K HDMI 2.1 lets one source span far more of the canvas natively. Bandwidth is finite, so the top 8192Γ—4320 mode is a forced 30Hz timing while lower resolutions allow higher refresh. HDR10/HLG preserves contrast and color, HDCP 2.3 handles protected content, and YCbCr 4:2:0 inputs require forced frame rates.

Key Highlights

Two HDMI 2.1 connectors, each up to 8K (8192Γ—4320@30Hz, forced)
Native HDMI 2.1 ingest for current 8K media servers, GPUs, and consoles
HDR10 (SMPTE ST 2084 / ST 2086) and HLG support
HDCP 2.3 compliant, backward compatible with HDCP 2.2 / 1.4 / 1.3
Preset resolutions up to 8192Γ—4320 (8K); many high-rate modes require forced settings

Frequently Asked Questions

How many HDMI 2.1 inputs does this card provide?

Two HDMI 2.1 connectors, each supporting up to 8K, on a single card.

What is the maximum resolution and refresh rate?

Up to 8192Γ—4320 (8K), with the full mode available at 30Hz as a forced timing; lower resolutions support higher refresh.

Which processors is it compatible with?

The MX-Series COEX controllers β€” MX2000 Pro and MX6000 Pro.

Does it support HDR and content protection?

Yes β€” HDR10 (SMPTE ST 2084 / ST 2086) and HLG, and HDCP 2.3 with backward compatibility to 2.2/1.4/1.3.

Why might I need to force a resolution or frame rate?

Many high-resolution/high-refresh modes require forced settings, and YCbCr 4:2:0 input requires forced frame rates from a capable source.

Can both HDMI 2.1 inputs run at 8K at once?

Each connector supports up to 8K (8192Γ—4320@30Hz, forced); simultaneous use depends on the processor's total capacity and configuration β€” for layouts at the system limits, confirm with our team at 321-747-3220.
